Deb I also must thank you for the beautiful Christmas box and the chocolate yum. I hope that you will enjoy your gift as well. This was the first Christmas I have had in about six years and it was a Beautiful one. On Saturday I had a few friends come by we sat around and talk, ate and sang songs and just had a wonderful time. The funny part was just before everyone got here the power went out in our neighborhood and the last of the cooking I was doing had just finished in a nic of time whew. So for about an hour we all sat around in candle light and start talking about how in the olden days this was have been the way it was. Thank God for electricity lol it was still dark to me even with all the candles I had going. The pictures you see are not very good and as I stated my camera just doesn't want cooperate at the moment. The doll was one that an 84 year old lady called me up and ask would I make a doll for her great grand daughter, I almost said no it was at a time I really wasn't into making dolls or doing pretty much of anything but I went ahead and gave it a shot and she just loved it. Sam she wanted pink and as you can see her dress is done in polka dots lol. I really hate my camera didn't take good pictures of it and at the time I took this one the lady was here at the house to pick it up and so I just hurried up and took a picture. But after making that doll it gave me new ideas on doing other ones. I have never made a doll for a child before and don't really know if I will again but as they say never say never. I actually have done another doll since that one and she looks even better than that one. I love my dolls. They may not sell online but at shows I do pretty good.

I am not sure if I am doing this right I never can seem to get the hyper link but please go over to Cheryl's blog Prims from Scratch there you can see my swap package from her and what I sent to her.
Another new blog friend. You know it is so wonderful how blogging can bring so many new people into your life. Last year I met Deb from Vintage Soul during a Easter Swap we have been in touch ever since.

I know I am going on and on but there is so much I want to share and say but I guess I need to close now and pray that by tomorrow I can get that camera of mines to work I do want to share at least a few of my Christmas pictures. I hope I haven't left anyone out if I did please know I do appreciate all of you. Until next posting
Peace and Many Blessings to all

The Passing of a Grand Lady

Today November 7, 2009, My Mummie passed away. I sit here thinking how should I feel why am I not breaking out in uncontrolable tears. Yet I feel at peace for her and myself. I try to remember her and all that comes to my head are times of when I was a very young girl. As an adult I didn't get to spend alot of time with my Mum but an occasional phone call to let each other know we are alive and well.

She held her illness from me for what reason I will never know. My Mum died of colon cancer. The many times I would go visit for her it pained me to watch her deal with pain that never would get better her cries for more medication only for the nurse to say it's not time. No longer will she have to deal with this she is gone on home now. I wont even say goodbye to her because I know I will someday be with her again. I will be away for awhile in preperation of celebrating her home coming.

Dropping In

Thought I drop in and share something a friend sent to me in a email. Most times I don't bother with forwarding emails. Gosh let's just say I hate them. You know the ones if you don't respond and pass on you will have bad luck or something. This time I read one and I found it informative so I will share it with everyone.

~Something to think about!
HANDBAGS :

Have you ever noticed girls who set their handbags on public toilet floors, then go directly to their dining tables and set it on the table? Happens a lot! It's not always the 'restaurant food' that causes stomach distress. Sometimes 'what you don't know will hurt you'!

Read on.............

Mom got so upset when guests came in the door and plopped their handbags down on the counter where she was cooking or setting up food. She always said that handbags are really dirty, because of where they have been.

It's something just about every woman carries with them. While we may know what's inside our handbags, do you have any idea what's on the outside? Women carry handbags everywhere; from the office to public toilets to the floor of the car. Most women won't be caught without their handbags, but did you ever stop to think about where your handbag goes during the day.

'I drive a school bus, so my handbag has been on the floor of the bus a lot,' says one woman. 'On the floor of my car, and in toilets.'

'I put my handbag in grocery shopping carts and on the floor of the toilet,' says another woman 'and of course in my home which should be clean.'

We decided to find out if handbags harbour a lot of bacteria. We learned how to test them at Nelson Laboratories in Salt Lake , and then we set out to test the average woman's handbag.

Most women told us they didn't stop to think about what was on the bottom of their handbag. Most said at home they usually set their handbags on top of kitchen tables and counters where food is prepared.

Most of the ladies we talked to told us they wouldn't be surprised if their handbags were at least a little bit dirty.

It turns out handbags are so surprisingly dirty, even the microbiologist who tested them was shocked.

Microbiologist Amy Karen of Nelson Labs says nearly all of the handbags tested were not only high in bacteria, but high in harmful kinds of bacteria. Pseudomonas can cause eye infections, staphylococcus aurous can cause serious skin infections, and salmonella and e-coli found on the handbags could make people very sick.

In one sampling, four out of five handbags tested positive for salmonella, and that's not the worst of it. 'There is faecal contamination on the handbags' says Amy. Leather or vinyl handbags tended to be cleaner than cloth handbags, and lifestyle seemed to play a role..People with kids tended to have dirtier handbags than those without, with one exception.

The handbag of one single woman who frequented nightclubs had one of the worst contaminations of all. 'Some type of faeces, or possibly vomit' says Amy.

So the moral of this story is that your handbag won't kill you, but it does have the potential to make you very sick if you keep it on places where you eat. Use hooks to hang your handbag at home and in toilets, and don't put it on your desk, a restaurant table, or on your kitchen countertop.

Experts say you should think of your handbag the same way you would a pair of shoes. 'If you think about putting a pair of shoes on your countertops, that's the same thing you're doing when you put your handbag on the countertops.'

Your handbag has gone where individuals before you have walked, sat, sneezed, coughed, spat, urinated, emptied bowels, etc! Do you really want to bring that home with you? The microbiologists at Nelson also said cleaning a handbag will help. Wash cloth handbags and use leather cleaner to clean the bottom of leather handbags.

THIS IS WORTH SHARING!!! PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO YOUR GRANDMOTHERS, MOMS, DAUGHTERS, GRANDDAUGHTERS AND GIRLFRIENDS !! !!

After reading this I never looked at my purse the same. So I also looked for places that even sold hooks to hang your purse on and I found this site and a few more
http://www.chattgifts.com/
I am going out to buy hooks for gifts this Christmas and they will make great stocking stuffers.

Until Next Time I wish Peace and Many Blessings

Busy Wednesday

Today has been one busy busy day with all the sewing I have been trying to get done and not to mention making holiday orniments Whew I am tired. I have also done some listing in my Esty Shop I refuse to give up on that.

Yesterday my Primitive tree arrived that I am going to put in a corner in my dinning room I will list some pictures as soon as I have everything all put together I am very pleased how it looks. Also had a Doctors appointment yesterday yuck but I have to do what I got to do. I am doing better but as time goes on I will be back to my old self again. I just wish I didn't stay so tired. Here are a few pictures of things I have listed in my shop.
Why not go take a look around you might see something you like and if you have a shop save me to your favorites I will do the same. Samm I have given thought to your suggestion about making some smaller dolls I will give it a try. I just wish I wasn't so stuck on making these dolls in this size the pictures make them appear much larger than what they are but as you can see the old lady sitting there in the chair she is not that big lol. I also have decided to make two bride dolls using some of the wedding dress, I am real excited about that can't wait to see how they turn out. Well time to fix dinner have no idea what I am going to fix
Peace and Blessings to all

What's A Woman To Do

The dress you see here
I brought one day while out thrifty shopping, I know what your thinking what on earth would make me buy a wedding gown from a thrift store. When I first seen it my head was dancing with ideas and all kinds of possibilities of what new life I could give to what I am now calling the dress of tears. Sure would love to know the history of how such a beautiful dress ended up in a thrift store. It was listed for 140.00 bucks wow no way was I going to pay that for a dress that my head was doing up and down flips of ways to pull it apart. So as always miss can I get a bargain I asked the store manager could he consider lowering the price. First he tells me that I could wait till Wednesday when everything is half price and purchase it then but even at half price I wasn't willing to pay that for the dress. So I gave Victor my sad sad look and told him of how I don't have a way to travel here on Wednesdays and that Joyce always bring me shopping on Saturday. Not to mention I also threw in who else was going to come to a thrift store in search of a Wedding Gown, and beside Victor look there is a rip right here. He looked a me with a smile and said ok how much are you willing to pay Ha!@!!@! I had to laugh ummm Victor I only have 25.00 bucks and I am also trying to purchase these other items. Well sweet ol Victor sold me the dress for 20.00 dollars and the promised that I would bake him one of my Chocolate Cakes lol.

After getting the dress home it sat on my sofa for a few days before I even bothered to bring it upstairs. Then it sat on a chair in my bedroom for another few days. The more I starred at the dress the more it almost made me sad. Yesterday I removed a sleeve but couldn't get up enough nerve to do anything else to it. (by the way I found a straight pin in the seam of the sleeve ouch!) So now it hangs on the door of my sewing room. Oh what should I do with her.

Also on another thrift store venture I purchased this awesome chair for my bedroom.
Oh how I love love this chair it sits better than any chair in my house and for 30 bucks how could I have left it sitting there. I have already fallen asleep in it a few times. I love thrift store shopping do you?

Here is another doll I am going to list in my Esty Shop

I am starting to wonder why do I even bother I have not sold a doll yet. I guess it is either poor pictures or the lack of understanding my dolls, I love them though lol. She will list for 70.00 dollars and free shipping I have a few items that I have listed for free shipping. You see her vintage pan and rolling pin. I love how she turned out.
Until Next Time
Peace and Many Blessings

Taking Time Out

I have been so very busy lately, that I thought I take sometime out today and blog. So much has been going on my Mum has become very ill and has been in the hospital for months. I Went to see her last weekend and I was so happy to see that she is coming along. It just delighted me to see her finish almost all her food. My Mum has colon cancer but the power of prayer she will pull through it all. I am in Maryland and she is in a hospital in DC so it is a bit of a commute for me since I don't drive anymore. So between going to see my Mum and going to the Docs for myself whew I am tired.

I have been slowly working on making new items for my Etsy shop along with my big project of making sure Christmas will visit my house this year. It came to me as a thought I would like to have a online Christmas ornament exchange. If anyone is interested in doing this please leave me a comment. I think that would be alot of fun. I will work on my details about this weekend. Until then I wish you all
Peace and Many Blessings

I'm Dreaming and Plaining

Lately, I have been focous on Christmas with everything that is going on in my life thoughts of my one and only holiday that I love so much keeps my mind busy. It has been some years now since I even had a Christmas. Not to mention not even a tree so I am on a mission to make sure this will be the year that Christmas will return to my home once again. I lost almost all the Christmas decor I had collected over the years and with just a few pieces here and there I grab what I can when out and spot a bargin.

I am also making some Christmas items as well and these snowmen are a sample of things to come I am going to list these in my Esty shop but working more, along with some santas and angels. The snowmen will be selling for 15.00 dollars made from cloth. So anyone else having that early Christmas bug itching at them?

Peace and Blessings

Hello Wednesday

Wednesday what a beautiful day it is. I can see the weather slowly creeping trying to change even though it is suppose to be in the 90's today. The mornings are simply crisp and cool. It is dark now at 6:00 am but I love it just the same I sit outside on my front porch while the neighborhood sleeps sipping on a cup of coffee while a ponder away with thoughts. I guess you can say that is a little part of my Joy. What gives you Joy? I use to ask myself that question and then one day I sat down and decided each day I would find Joy and snatch it up like it was my last breath. Therefore, is where I came up with the saying Snatch JOY! just grab hold of it and don't let it go. Often times we loose site of the small simple things in life not realizing it is our Joy!

I have been doing lots of thrifty shopping lately keeping myself busy it won't be long now before I go in for surgery I am ready to face this monster and soon it will be a distant memory. Tell me what you think of my latest thrifty finds also I need some help on deciding what color sofa to get. I found one I am so in love with at JC Penney just can't decide between red or gold maybe even white.

I love this sofa but I am not sure if I get it in red if that will be too much

Love to hear your suggestions also Nancy at Victorian Whimsies is having a giveaway for a Beautiful Victorian Cone please stop by her blog http://nancymalay.blogspot.com/2009/08/i-havent-done-giveaway-for-awhile-so-i.html
I can't remember how to hyper link her web address. Belle Vista is having a Rooster Party this weekend you can click on the Rooster on my side post. Until my next post I wish you all Peace and Many Blessings

Relaxing Sunday

Today is one of those calm relaxing Sundays even though the temps outside is crazy hot. Last week I went to see the neurologist and things are coming along pretty good. So now it will be up to my primary care doctor to go ahead and give the oncologist the ok for my surgery. I just will be one happy woman when all this is behind me.

Each week I am still struggling more and more to get motivated to do some sewing I look at the piles of fabrics and sit there dreaming not moving not taking a step to even begin cutting. I guess everyone goes through a stage like this. The ideas are all there in my head but I guess with everything else my mind just wont allow me to do it right now and that is ok!

I am shame to say how much time I spend on here just drooling over so so many blogs I must say it is a HUGE amount of creative people out there. I discovered one blog the other day Barb at Bella Vista I was stuck in her blog for hours just gorgeous ideas so much talent. I decided to even join a Rooster Party she is having, I had laugh but for some reason I thought I was alone for my love of Roosters. So on the August 28, all that joined in on the fun will be showcasing their Roosters, I cant wait. I need to get a new memory card for my camera for some reason the darn thing just stopped working I keep getting a memory card error every time I turn on the cam. Oh well that is on the to do list for this week.

Most of you know about my love for PEPSI now I have found something else it's not a replacement but for now I am loving the Canada Dry Ginger Ale Green Tea DELICIOUS

Well time to fix dinner!
Peace and Blessings all

Today Was a Good Day

Today was a fantastic day even after a few stumbling blocks it turned out wonderful. I went thrifty shopping and I think I got some pretty good bargins. You never know what you will find in a thrift shop. Joyce called me early telling me about these ladder back chairs she saw the day before. They were gorgeous I didn't get them just yet because I am not sure if they have a spot in my home for them. They are black with the heavy straw woven seats and have hand painted flowers on the ladder part of them with bits of gold trim. Well this here is the chair I am buy from target to put on the bare wall by my steps, that Joyce thought the chairs in the thrift shop would be better and you get all four for 79.00 dollars it just not the same. This is the picture of the settee I am buying

Even though the ladder back chairs are really nice I just don't see a place right now in my small house to place them. But I did however buy these two chairs I just couldn't leave them in that cold lonely drabby thrift store they was calling out my name over and over begging me to please don't leave them behind.

I love them! I got them both for 45.00 dollars I am not sure if that is a bargain or not I just knew I had to have them. I also brought two lamps one for 12.00 and the other for 5.00 dollars, a black metal tray for 2 bucks and a wicker laundry basket for 1.50 So I think I did pretty good for the amount of money I spent.

And last but not lest I am a huge lover of red transferware and TOILE! well I found two nice pieces on etsy and I can't wait for them to come in the mail

Well that's it for now I need to get some rest whew I hope everyone has had a wonderful as well
Peace and Blessings
